I like going out! There, I’ve said it!

I like doing things, making memories and having new experiences. I also like food and wine (particularly South African Chenin Blanc)! I am the person that nags friends to come here / do this / try that, buying tickets in bulk, and then dragging people along! I eat out fairly often, and will admit, that when I find a place I like, I become a regular!

When I travel, I tend to travel alone – not exclusively, this just seems to be the way it has worked out over the past few years. I love exploring new cities and environments, getting off the beaten track and doing things a little differently. I was first introduced to the independent world of travel with a camping coach trip (yes, a young persons coach trip that you camp along the way) from London to Rome. From there I thought, ‘Wow, I can do this!’ It sounds lame I know, but the world appears a big scary place….until you get out there and see it!

I am often asked by friends and colleagues if I have recommendations of restaurants (they have a friend coming over to London, a date, or need to take their mum to lunch…), places to stay (going to Budapest? fear not!) and things to do (from an outdoor cinema in London, to visiting cenotes in Tulum) so I thought, why not start a blog! I rely heavily on reviews when booking accommodation or am making dinner reservations. I also always write a diary when I travel, so why not make it online?! Why not write a small synopsis of places I have eaten, things I have done and cocktails I have drunk? So, I introduce to you, ‘Ruthie On Reflection‘.

I hope it inspires nights out, assists with existing plans, and makes booking things that little bit easier!
